For the first time when I was really away from home, I watched formula one. I guess many thanks to the excitement, it felt like old times and I miss it so much.🙂 As usual, the season starts in Albert Park, Melbourne. (they hold a contract as a season opener). This season, as mentioned earlier here, we have a new team as Honda decided to pull off from formula one. I haven’t realize the owner of this new Brawn GP team is Ross Brawn until I saw his familiar face’s hugging Button at the end of the race. The Ross Brawn! No wonder this new team won at their first attempt to race. They don’t even need a warm-up race and according to formula one official website, the last time a new team ever finished one-two on their debut is in 1954.Gosh!
As much as I adore Schumi, I worship this guy too. He is the former technical director of the Benetton and Ferrari team. In the past, he helped Schumi to win back-to-back World Driver’s Championships in 1994 and 1995 with Benetton before he followed Schumi to migrate to Ferrari and again powered him to 5 consecutive driver’s titles from 2000 to 2004. He’s a race strategies expert. I have no doubt this new Brawn GP team will fly high throughout the season. But it’s a surprise to learn that Brawn chose to source their engines from Mercedes-Benz (maybe he knows Ferrari is actually not that good?) even though it is somehow against the rule as FIA rules only permit an engine supplier to 2 teams. Fortunately, Mercedes have been given a special dispensation to supply those engines to Brawn GP which happen to be the third team for one year.
Ok, back to the race today, the handsome Jenson Button and his teammate won 1-2 behind the safety car. If not for some stupid and clumsy mistakes, Vertel and Kubica could be on the podium too. I have no idea what they’re thinking, it’s just 3 laps left and they made some stupid mistakes when Kubica was trying to overtake Vettel that blow everything out and handed the place to Barrichello and Lewis after Truli loses the podium for safety car infringement. It was the most dramatic moment of the entire race.
As for my favourite Ferrari team, Massa kinda have a good start, jumping from 6th place to 3rd but he had to withdraw from the race on lap 45 due to some mechanical problem and for Kimi, I am kinda lost of what really happen to him today. He bumped with Barrichello at lap 17 or 18 and later when the race was about 10 or less laps left, he spun out of the race. I think this failure has something to do with the new KERS system as they did admit earlier that they’re struggling with the implementation of the new KERS system. Why on earth do they want to use that system if it brings no good? It’s not that it’s a compulsory to use it and I bet none of the car on the podium today uses it.
But after all, I convey my heartiest congratulations to Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello and JornaTruli (I don’t like lewis, no offence) on their victory today. Can’t wait for the second round of the season which is scheduled next week in Malaysia. Welcome to the very hot and humid climate of Malaysia, drivers~🙂
p/s= I wanna put a lot of pictures here especially the part where Kubicas’ tyres kind of rolling adrift across the track but most of the pictures are protected by copyright. Thus, if you guys wanna see the pictures just go the formula one official website ok. 🙂
