Unlike the previous years, Ferrari has eschewing its typical numbering system by calling its new car F60 instead of F2009 due to the fact that this will be the 60th season of Formula One in which Ferrari is the only team to have competed in each and every one since it began in the summer of 1950.
However, the car which has been launched at Mugello, near Florence, offers few surprises which the rules do not allow much and had brought some attentions from other teams as well. Mercedes’ Norbert Haug, BMW’s Walter Riedl and Toyota’s Pascal Vasselon have backed a report that the F60 that features an exterior rear exhaust outlets, which they believe will improve the overtaking, are in contravention of the new technical regulations. ( they change the regulations again this year? Sigh~ )
I don’t intend to go into details about the specifications as I am not familiar with most of their parts but what I can say is that F60 is much more elegant than its predecessors and according to some sources, F60 is about to introduce the first hybrid concept into the sports. Wow! ( somehow, I remember Honda’s 2007 earth livery eco green image 😛 )
Hopefully this year they will win the Driver’s title because even though they has won 8 Constructor’s titles in the last 10 seasons, there are only 6 Driver’s crowns and I do really hope that the rumour about Alonso’s secret agreement to join Ferrari for 4 years starting from 2011 remains as a rumour. I have no doubt that he is one of the best driver we have in the century but there’s something about his attitude that kind of annoys me to death especially the smugness.
