“Honda must protect its core business activities and secure the long term as widespread uncertainties in the economies around the globe continue to mount”
-Takeo Fukui, the chief executive of Honda-
Yes, formula one has always bills itself as the world’s richest sport but Honda is the Japan’s No. 2 automaker. How on earth, the global financial crisis had made so much impact on this company? It wouldn’t be so surprised if the team like Torro Roso or Force India (no offence) pulls out from formula one but Honda?
The team is now looking for a new owner before the 2009 season begins in March in Melbourne, Australia and I am very curious to figure out whether or not they’re gonna supply the engine to the new team and hopefully, the new team won’t change the drivers line-up especially the handsome Jenson Button. 😛
I never like Honda team ever since the day I started to watch formula one because their cars are so fragile. I still remembered this one time when Button was just a few metres from the finish line to win the race and suddenly his car catch on fire out of nowhere! But it doesn’t mean that I am not gonna miss Honda to be on the circuit.
In the press conference which had been held in Tokyo, Takeo Fukui also added,
“I offer my sincere apologies to everyone involved.”
